Built in 1940, the USS Iowa served our country for more than 50 years. Designated the “World’s Greatest Naval Ship” due to her 16-inch guns, heavy armor, fast speed, and longevity, she kept pace with technology and ruled the seas. Now in her new home of Los Angeles, USS Iowa is transforming into the most interactive and educational museum of her kind. A definite must-see for history buffs. Allow some time to talk to the many veterans who volunteer onboard.

Hours of operation: Daily 9am-6pm. Tour of Honor is an Affiliate Partner of USS Iowa and riders who present their rally flag at the Box Office will be given a $4 off admission price. Partner organizer Shannon Paul requests that in exchange for the discount, that you email a photo to her, of you and your flag in front of the big guns.

If you wish to receive advance discount tickets online, follow the directions here. And send your photo in front of the 16-inchers to Shanon Paul.

Also in the area: Eating near here can be a little iffy, so why not take in another famous ship, the Queen Mary, eight miles to the south at 33.75286,-118.18974, before heading downtown for dining choices such as Roscoe's House of Chicken and Waffles, Hole Mole, or Lucille's Smokehouse BBQ.

*If motorcycle, rally flag and above image can't be in the same photo, submit two photos: one with rally flag and above image, and another with rally flag and motorcycle nearby. If the site is CLOSED or inaccessible, submit a photo with rally flag and motorcycle nearby, along with an explanation.
