So, Ellen, at the Flying Cross Memorial, it looks like you rode (or maybe pushed) your bike from the parking lot down the sidewalk past the aircraft on the left to get to the spot in your photo. Did anybody give you flak over that? (pun intended)

On a trip to Death Valley, I was able to visit two of the memorials - Bakersfield and Big Pine. A full ride report is ongoing but here at the pics at the memorials.

Thanks, Matthew... I had really wanted to get a shot of the flag but was shooting directly into the sun. The breeze floated the flag up, draping me in its shadow... AHA!! A photo concept is born!! ;)

I took a similar picture of the flag on my front porch last Sunday. I thought the "glow" effect was great.

Sounds like you two came up with the concept at the same time! Shouldn't this patriotic photo technique have a name?

Sorry, I haven't been on this site for awhile. Busy riding ;-)

Rode the bike down the sidewalk. Other than my husband who was ahead of me, there wasn't anyone around. I don't think I would have attempted it otherwise.
