One of San Diego area’s most popular tourist destinations, a memorial with 360 degree views and grassy areas for picnicking. The hilltop location has a storied history with the Lindbergh’s using it for glider flights in the 1920s, used as part of the early-warning defense system in World War II, the Latin Cross dedicated in 1954 for Korean War Veterans, long used by ships and planes for navigation, and now saluting veterans from all wars.

Over 3,000 individuals are memorialized with their photos and stories etched onto six concentric walls of granite plaques.

Bonus stop: If you like taco trucks, you might want to try San Diegans' favorite: Marisco's German Taco Truck 3, at 3504 University Ave. If you want a restaurant-style Mexican meal, check out El Indio, est. 1940 and featured on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives.
