Memorial is dedicated to the over 987,000 Illinois men and women who served in the Armed Forces from 1941 to 1945. A cenotaph honors the 22,000 who died during the conflict. Nearby are the Korean and Vietnam War memorials, as well as Abraham Lincoln's tomb.

Bonus stop: A short distance away is the popular Lincoln Home National Historic Site.
