The 5-foot-tall monument crafted in the shape of Delaware, is dedicated to the dozens of Delaware citizens still listed as POW or MIA from World War II to the present.

The 2011 dedication ceremony honored a Wilmington-area man, Marine Gunnery Sgt. Edward Willing, who went missing in the summer of 1968 in Vietnam.  Nancy Willing, sister of Edward, said it is nice she can now visit the memorial and think of her missing brother.

"It's been a long time, a rough road for the family to have had to never have the closure," Willing said. "This is going to be a place to come in Delaware to remember our POW/MIA."

Also in the area: The memorial is located on the grounds of the Air Mobility Command Museum at Dover Air Force Base. It is the only museum dedicated to airlift and supply operations by the US Air Force. Free admission and parking, closed Mondays.
