This historical marker is erected on the grounds a ferry terminal, on what used to be a cemetery for unidentified sailors washed ashore on local beaches since the 17th Century.

Also in the area: If you’re in the mood for some pub-style grub and a microbrew, consider a visit to Dogfish Head, a restaurant in nearby Rehoboth Beach, just 20 minutes away. “Off-centered stuff for off-centered people.”

When you’re done here, and you haven’t done so already, consider taking the ferry to Cape May, New Jersey to visit the Fisherman’s Memorial site.
