In the northwest corner of the Muscogee (Creek) Tribal Complex, northeast of downtown Okmulgee, is a "Circle of Life" memorial honoring Native veterans.
As you approach the circle, two red granite monuments flank the walkway. One reads: "This 'Circle of Life' and the red granite obelisk stands as a tribute to all the Creek men and women who served in the military service of the United States of America to preserve the Mucogree (Creek) Nation and the American way of life. This site honors all Creek warriors past and future."
The other monument reads: "Greater love has no man than a man lay down his life for his friends." St. John 15:13 / KILLED IN ACTION / (the names of warriors in World War I, World War II, Korea and Viet Nam are listed).
Walking past the two granite monuments is a gravel-filled circle, perhaps 30 feet in diameter. Around the edge on the concrete are approximately 40 granite plaques with the names of places. Some are familiar, some are not. In the center of the circle is a tall obelisk. The east side reads: "'Mvskoke Entrstvnvkvike Arakkuecka 'Honor to all Muscogee warriors.'"
The west side of the obelisk shows the Great Seal of the Muscogee Nation, Indian Territory and gives the names of the Principal Chief, 2nd Chief and Committee members and the dedication date of May 15, 1999.
