Greenville is one of two towns that claim Audie Murphy as their own. Orphaned, Audie Murphy was the epitome of what could be achieved in a free country. He was the most decorated soldier of WWII, winning every Medal of Valor that could be awarded, along with the highest honors of Belgium and France.

Later, Audie became a movie star, starring in his own biography, “To Hell and Back,” which was the highest grossing picture for Universal Studios until the movie “Jaws.” He donated money and established a Boy's Camp in Texas for orphans. Audie also wrote several award winning country songs.

The museum is home to the Audie L. Murphy Hunt County Veteran’s Exhibit, a large collection of military memorabilia relating to Audie Murphy and other Hunt County veterans.

For a biography of Audie Murphy, go to your state sponsor's website and read about the Ultimate Hero.

Museum hours: Tuesday through Saturday from 10am-5pm. Tour of Honor participants will receive a $2 discount to the museum upon presentation of your rally flag.
