The veteran's memorial at Point Park is maintained by Lauderdale County and the City of Florence, and contains a memorial to the war veterans of the area. Several pieces of artillery, shell casings and rounds, anchor chains, and a fully armed Huey Cobra helicopter in attack mode adorn the area around the monument. It’s a work in progress as evidenced by the recently poured concrete pad. Word has it a fixed wing aircraft will be making its way to the memorial real soon, let us know if you see it in place.

A small museum on the site has interesting artifacts and is open on weekends from 10AM to 5PM. The park itself is open dawn to dusk.

More than a memorial, Point Park off of Veterans Park Drive is a full functioning recreational facility having twenty-two campsites, six lighted tennis courts, baseball and softball fields, playgrounds, and several designation picnic shelters. If you happen to carry a Frisbee with you, Veterans Park is also home to one of the oldest disc golf courses in the state, established in 1983.
