Erected in 1914, this obelisk known as Fort Edwards State Memorial stands on this promontory overlooking the Mississippi river, opposite the mouth of the Des Moines river.

The obelisk stands in honor of the early fur-traders and the earliest European-American settlers in western Illinois.

Also in the area: visit the historic Warsaw Brewery which began in 1861, now a bar and restaurant.
