Erected in 1970 the Freedom Flame is dedicated to those citizens of Wilmington and New Hanover County who have given of themselves and those yet to answer the call to preserve liberty for all mankind.

Also in the area: The battleship USS North Carolina (1 Battleship Rd.) served in the Pacific theater in World War II. It is open for tours daily.
