The 9/11 Memorial was dedicated on 9-11-11, the 10th anniversary of the attack on the World Trade Center, to honor the 2977 men and women who lost their lives during the attack. The memorial was constructed using exterior vertical beams salvaged from the wreckage of the towers, believed to have fallen more than 1,000’ from the upper floors of one of the towers. Each beam is 35’ in length and the monument weighs more than 6,000 pounds.
