The lifelike bronzes at the Veteran's Memorial in Thermopolis, were created from images of actual Wyoming Veterans, including a woman, by Sculptor Carl Jensen of Wheatland, Wyoming, and dedicated on Memorial Day, 2005. At the base of the monument are stones inscribed with the names of men and women veterans from all over the United States dating as far back as the Spanish American War.

An 8" Howitzer is included at the memorial, one of the 10,200 manufactured between 1939 and 1953. The memorial is a beautiful tribute to veterans and holds special meaning to Wyoming's state sponsor, Janet Lennox, a veteran herself, US Army and US Navy Reserves.

Also in the area: Thermopolis is the home of the world's largest hot-springs and known as the gateway to Yellowstone Park. If you get a chance, be sure to visit one of the spas for a nice hot soak.

You might also consider taking a walk to check out the many sculptures in the downtown area that were created by Wyoming artists.

The Legend Rock Petroglyph site is 23 miles west of here and contains 283 different petroglyphs on 92 individual sandstone panels.
